[Taxacom] Bibliographical confusion between BHL and Wiley

Stephen,

Well, quite clearly BHL appears to be correct, as evidenced from the title
page.

The RES catalogue lists the Wiley volume as Vol 2., e.g. includes,
Templeton, R. (1838) Description of a new Irish crustaceous animal. (Trans.
ent. Soc. Lond. 2: 114-120, 1 pl., 1838).

It probably is not wholly true to state Transactions became Ecological
Entomology as the former includes taxonomic papers. Those now could be said
to be in Systematic Entomology but, in truth the RES really does not publish
simple taxonomic descriptive works (a personal minor niggle).

To confuse matters further Bolton (1995), in his great general catalogue of
ants, cites one of the papers, viz. Sykes, W.H. Descriptions of new species
of Indian ants. Transactions of the Royal Entomological Society of London,
1, 99-107. [2.x.1935. Date of publication from Wheeler, G. 1912: 754]

Then, see Wheeler, G. 1912. On the dates of publications of the
Entomological Society of London. Transactions of the Entomological Society
of London 1911: 750-767. Accessible from Antbase.org. Bolton used the "Date
of delivery by Printers to Society".

So, remain confused.

Brian
