of participation
The Convention includes
several types of meetings: congresses, colloquies, symposia, and work-shops.
Those interested may contribute by means of oral presentations and
posters.Oral presentations will
be limited to 15 minutes, and organized as approved for panel discussions,
round tables, or special thematic sessions.Posters must be designed
in a 95 x 150 cm
(width x height) format, and their date and hour of presentation will be
shown
in the scientific program. Authors must attend their posters at the
indicated
time in order to answer possible questions from participants.Authors may
indicate
their preferred type of presentation (oral or poster) to the Scientific
Committee; but the Committee has the right to decide and will inform authors
accordingly.
Abstract and
publication of papers
Participants interested
in contributing oral presentations or posters must send an abstract in
Spanish,
English, or Portuguese toconvencion at ama.cu(with copy to the contact person
of the specific meeting where they intend to
present their work), indicating the corresponding congress or colloquy and
their choice for type of presentation. Abstracts must be sent to the
Organizing
Committee before February 28th (2013) by Cuban participants,
and before March 31st (2013) by foreign participants. Before
April 15th (2013) the Organizing Committee will inform authors
about acceptance of their abstracts and type of presentation decided.Once
the abstract is
accepted, authors willing to have their whole papers published in the
proceedings
of the meeting (in electronic format with ISBN) must send them to the
Organizing
Committee before May 20th (2013). Publication of papers
received after that date is not guarantied.
Specifications for abstract presentation
·Abstracts (electronically
edited) must clearly and briefly express the objectives and scope of the
study,
basic procedures, methods, main results, and conclusions. Images, tables,
graphs, formulas, complex symbols, and acronyms must not be included. Do not
write the word “Abstract”.
·Presentation as a single
block in Microsoft Word, using Arial 12 points with simple interlining, on
size
A4, with 2.5 cm
margins on both sides; not exceeding one page (250 words), saved in Word
Document 97-2003.
·Title
in upper case bold face, left flushed, and not longer than 20 words; with
numerical reference to foot-note in italics, as follows: Presented at the IV
Symposium of Natural History
Museums, as part of the IX International Convention on Environment and
Development, held in Havana, Cuba, July 8-12th, 2013.
·Name of author (in Arial
12 points) left flushed and 12 points below title. More than one author must
follow each other separated by commas. For each author, a numerical
reference
to foot-note indicating institutional affiliation, country, and email.
·From 3 to 5 key words at
12 points below end of abstract.Specifications for the presentation of whole
papers
·Microsoft Word edition
(minimum 10 pages; maximum 20 pages, 1 megabyte) using Arial 12 points, size
A4, with 2.5 cm
margins on all four sides.
·Text with simple interlining
and 12 points between paragraphs. Paragraphs without first line indentation
(including tables, graphs, figures, maps, foot-notes, and bibliographic
references). Page numbers centered on bottom.
·Abstract (as indicated
above) on page 1, title and authors on page 2, and then the rest of the
document, which must include an introduction, results, conclusions, and
bibliographic references, among other sections.
·Tables and figures must
be consecutively numbered and inserted closest to the place in text where
they
are mentioned for the first time.Contributions not complying
with the above specifications will be rejected. The Organizing Committee is
not
responsible for contents of presentations.AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA FOR
PRESENTATIONSData-show, video, and
computer, requested ahead of time to the Scientific Committee. CDs, DVDs,
and
the like must be handed by authors to the Audiovisual Media Reception Office
