Yikes. This still sounds scary. Thinking that the internet *needs* to know something. What a hungry, needy internet. We keep feeding it but it wants more ....
All I can visualize is an updated version of "Soylent Green" called "The Internet" with Charlton Heston brought back from the dead reprising his lead role. There he is in the last scene crawling on the ground, dying, reaching out to no one particular, and with his last words saying "The ... internet ... is ... people ...!!!"
Replace "internet" with telephone" in David's full quote and see how silly it sounds.
Apologies to David (who probably missed my previous post and has not read Avagadro Corp). The internet doesn't *need* to know anything. The humans using it do. :-)
