It is actually interesting that this thread "Creation of a Network Integrated Biocollections Alliance will increase research productivity, solve societal problems, and drive innovation" posted on 3/4 does not get any attention, which certainly has a lot do with what is debated here, and actually has the potential to have a much greater impact on our field then the discussion of issues we better have experts talk to us ( I guess that was Paddies original intend).

Those patent applications give the impression that someone is trying to claim, as a "new invention", the processes that any good taxonomist must work through. Perhaps I should patent my particular methods of choice for conducting a biological survey or for writing a monograph.
