[Taxacom] prolific species describers

Hi Michael,
 
        I don't think any vertebrate zoologists could compete with the entomologists for such numbers.  I remembered that Oldfield Thomas of the British Museum named large numbers of mammals, and I see that his biography on Wikipedia says that he named 2,000 species and subspecies.  I don't know if that number includes only recognized species and subspecies (many of his names are now merely synonyms of recognized species and subspecies).
