No, I don't really know. I gather that Girault just didn't see eye to eye with his manager(s), and wasn't afraid to express this in print. Perhaps John Noyes (CC) knows more details?

I'm curious as to what the heck this is about. Do you have any more
details? The reason for my interest is that Macleay Museum specimens
are mentioned for several species.
