Hi Reg,
       I guess your question is mainly about which syllable is
emphasized.  I'm a zoologist, not a botanist, but I believe the emphasis
is almost always on the penultimate syllable for such ordinal names.  So
Asterales would be pronouned: as-ter-AH-lees.
