The iPlant Collaborative is please to announce the third release of the Taxonomic Name Resolution Service, TNRS 3.0.
The TNRS is an online tool for the automated correction and standardization of plant scientific names. Capable of processing thousands of names at a time, the TNRS is particularly useful for updating large legacy datasets and merging biodiversity data from different sources.
TNRS 3.0 is a major release with many new features and enhancements. The most important of these is the ability to standardize names according to multiple taxonomic sources. Currently, the TNRS provides access to the Missouri Botanical Garden's Tropicos database, the Global Compositae Checklist, USDA Plants and NCBI taxonomy. We encourage the community to contribute additional sources of high-quality plant taxonomy.
