Lyubo

Congratulations! I am very glad that you took on this challenge to create
what was always my dream and for which we could help to provide the
formalism, taxpub: That treatments are dealt with like gene sequences, there
is open access and backed up by a major institution, which in this case is
the same (NIH).

Since the Zookeys species are already linked to Zoobank, I hope this will
serve as an example on how we can build from now on an ICZN service for
names that includes all the taxonomic information published at the moment a
new name becomes available, and at the same time offers the communities far
beyond taxonomy access to this crucial seminal information.

Subject: [Taxacom] ZooKeys on PubMedCentral

We are pleased to announce that, after nearly two years of testing, ZooKeys
was accepted for archival and display in
PubMedCentral<http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/journals/1355/>,
the wold's leading archive for biomedical literature, based at the National
Library of Medicine <http://www.nlm.nih.gov/> (NLM) of the USA. The link to
ZooKeys articles on PMC is at:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/journals/1355/

Thus, ZooKeys becomes the first journal in biodiversity science to use a
domain-specific extension (TaxPub <http://sourceforge.net/projects/taxpub/>)
of the general NLM mark up schema that permits automatic extraction and
retrieval of specific information on biological taxa, such as taxon
treatments and their features from an article's text.

We hope that the experience accumulated by ZooKeys with
TaxPub<http://sourceforge.net/projects/taxpub/>will be used by other
taxonomic journals to make biodiversity information
openly accessible and easy to use - a process that has been inspired by
Donat Agosti and the team of Plazi <http://www.plazi.org>.
