[Taxacom] Christchurch Earthquake

Thanks to taxacomers for their messages and thoughts.

I was at CHR out in Lincoln (20 km from city centre) with most of the team when the quake struck. Although it was a shock to us all, the effect there was not very severe (no injuries or serious damage) and the collection is not at risk. Since I can email you, it seems that our colleagues have the computer servers up and running now. I have heard that Lincoln University and University of Canterbury have come through without loss of life. I do not know the extent of damage at UC, but in the absence of information hope it is not too bad.

However, the disaster in Christchurch is very serious with many injuries and dozens of confirmed fatalities. It is therefore a sombre day here as we wait while the rescue operation continues, and I still fear that some of my colleagues may have lost friends or family members working in the city.

Best wishes
Rob
