Postdoctoral position in entomology (spiders) at the Natural History
Museum of Denmark/Center of Macroecology, Evolution and Climate

 

Danish National Research Foundation University of Copenhagen and
Technical University of Denmark

 

 

The center has been established with funds from Danish National Research
Foundation ('Danmarks Grundforskningsfond'), the University of
Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark. It is a long-term
funded center of excellence that starts 1st of January 2010. It will
integrate terrestrial and marine research in a cross-disciplinary
research program addressing fundamental questions on the origin,
maintenance, conservation and future of life and biological diversity on
Earth. 

 

The center will bring together ca. 40 marine and terrestrial
high-profile scientists, postdoctoral scientists, PhD-students as well
as technical and administrative staff
(http://macroecology.ku.dk/people/). The center will juxtapose faculty
staff scientists from the fields of macroecology, historical
biogeography, oceanography, evolutionary biology, ecology, population
biology, climate change research, conservation biology and environmental
economics, who have been assigned to the center from the Department of
Biology, the Natural History Museum of Denmark, and Forest & Landscape
(all University of Copenhagen - http://www.ku.dk/english/) and the
National Institute of Aquatic Resources (Technical University of
Denmark). 

 

A postdoctoral position in entomology to work on either questions
related to species diversity patterns of spiders in the Eastern Arc
Mountains, Tanzania OR phylogeny, biogeography and/or speciation
patterns of spiders in a context that are relevant for the research
activities at the Center of Macroecology, Evolution and Climate
(http://macroecology.ku.dk/). The postdoc positions require a
PhD-degree. 

 

We seek a candidate with a strong publication records within the topic
of the postdoc position, very strong analytical and data handling
skills, experience with tropical fieldwork, and an ability to
communicate within a cross-disciplinary research team. 

 

The appointment is for 1-2 years. Starting time is negotiable, but
preferably as soon as possible.

Terms of appointment and payment in accordance to the agreement between
the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations (AC). Post docs salary is based on seniority and is
currently between 31.400 kr. and 33.000 kr. plus pension contribution
and possibility to negotiate further supplement.
