[Taxacom] Botanical posters as educational tools in the 19th century

Actually, not only 19th century - when I went to elementary and highschool in Germany in the sixties and seventies of the 20th century, these "Wandtafeln" were still widely used in various subject matters, such as geography, biology and physics. We often had to fetch them from the collection before class. Looking at the posters on the Harvard website is quite evocative of long school corridors, a teacher with a pointing stick and the sense of lack of understanding while marvelling at the artwork ... Regards, Heike.
