One of our PhD students, Caroline Cornish, is researching the large botanical illustrations that used to hang in the old Kew Museums. There's a blog post at:
http://www.kew.org/news/kew-blogs/economic-botany/mysterious-hanging-diagrams.htm

and high-resolution images of the museum interior, showing the posters, at:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kewonflickr/sets/72157627361941734/

Some of these might be original works of art, but I suspect some were prints produced for educational use.

We can't find any examples of 19th century (1850-1900) botanical posters in collections at Kew or elsewhere, nor any literature on their use in education.

Does anyone recognise any of the posters, or know of any useful literature? It's possible that some prints came from central Europe and might be familiar to botanists there.
