[Taxacom] Why Taxonomy does NOT matter

ACCESS is an important word, nowadays. It is used as a justification for allowing the public into sensitive natural areas. For instance, rock climbers have destroyed the crevice habitat of large limestone boulders in the Niagara River gorge in the Niagara Glen "natural area." Literature on this sport is replete with demands for access to cliffs in wild areas.

It is my impression that "faster, more relevant and useful taxonomic
products and promoting public understanding and appreciation for
biodiversity" are the issues that are being questioned on this list.
