I have to say you've outdone yourself here. If I wrote stuff like that, 
I'd be ashamed.

That's all well and good until they cross a grade boundary. Your system 
notwithstanding, paraphyletic groups don't play well with others, and if 
some clade-based taxonomists think they can't get what they want from 
the existing system, why is anyone surprised that they'd make another?
