Hi,
Neobiota (greek "new organism") is dealing with introduced plants and
animals:
introduced (intentionally or accidentially) by man after 1492 into a
previously unsettled area. Species must have established self-viable
populations.
Before 1492: Archaeozoa/-phyta
This definition is neutral, whereas terms like "invasive" or "alien" are
often negatively associated. We are using this definition in Germany in
terms of invasive biology.
Regards,
Michael Braun
