[Taxacom] e-publication (again) and wikileak

In today's Guardian is an interesting almost ironique comment that seems to
be relevant for taxonomic publishing:

"Sir Christopher Meyer, who was British ambassador to the US in the Blair
years, thought the leaks would have little impact on diplomatic behaviour.
"This won't restrain dips' [diplomats'] candour," he said. "But people will
be looking at the security of electronic communications and archives. Paper
would have been impossible to steal in these quantities."

What happened here ought to be the dream of us taxonomists: that all our
data can be uploaded at once, which in fact happens wherever possible (eg
antbase digital library). But most of it is kept in books and thus will
never have the fortune to be so easily globally distributed and we do not
have to be afraid that somebody will figure out our treasures.
