[Taxacom] Colombian Botanical Congress Aug 2011, Symposium on Evolution of Neotropical plants: call for abstracts

Dear Colleagues,

As part of the VI Colombian Botanical Congress, to be held in Cali, August 11-15, 2011, we are organizing the sixth consecutive symposium “Evolution of Neotropical plants: the phylogenetic perspective”.  The goal of the Symposium is to present recent advances in the investigation of  phylogenetic relationships of Neotropical plant groups and evolutionary processes involved in their diversification (e.g., morphology, reproductive biology, biogeography). As in previous years, we hope the Symposium will bring together a diverse group of Colombian and international researchers, as well as attract a large audience of students and professionals.

We invite the botanical community to participate in the Symposium by giving short talks that present the results of current research on the evolution of Neotropical plants. We will also be organizing a short field trip for symposium participants.

Please send your abstract of no more than 500 words to the organizing committee by November 30, 2011.

We are looking forward to your participation and hope to see you in Cali, also known as “Heaven on Earth”!
