[Taxacom] Fwd: Collective name for binomial + trinomial

I worry about microformats, not because I don't understand them or
what they are trying to do, but because I can not see a elegant non
labour intensive way to create and insert them into blocks of html
text, and having got them in, I can not see an application that can
harness the power they seem to promise.

Linked data and RDF on the other hand, I don't understand at all, but
I can see clearly how it can be generated automatically and I can see
different applications that can use it... :)

Perhaps I am missing something?

Also, with microformats an impression is that they get made up as you
go, not unlike twitter hashtags :) No, that is being unkind. But
there does not seem to be a clear link between the microformat and an
established standard, in this case from TDWG.

Again, am I missing something?

Just trying to work out why what seems like a good idea isn't getting
any traction...

That page looks very confused indeed.

Just a pointer: formal use does not know a "binominal".
The zoological Code uses "binomen" or "binominal name".
The botanical Code uses "binomial" (not "binomial name")

There is no such thing as a "cultivar group": it is a "Group".

It is extremely silly to use a "x" (small letter x)
where a "×" (multiplication sign) is prescribed.
Etc.
