With ca. 6,000,000 specimens, The herbaria of the Conservatoire et Jardin
botaniques de la Ville de Genève (G; G-DC; G-BOIS; G-BU) rank among the
most important botanical collections in the world, inheritated from a
botanical tradition that dates back to the 18th century. It includes plant
and fungal specimens from across the world, with special emphasis on the
Mediterranean area, Near- and Middle-East, South America and Europe.
In order to improve access to these collections, the CJB runs a
digitization programme of herbarium specimens (databasing and scanning of
the specimens). To date, ca. 150'000 specimens have been databased,
including 39'000 types and 40'500 images. All this information is available
on-line at the following URL:

The new version includes several improved features and the interface is now
also available in English.
