Peer review is a myth ... post publication peer review is the test of good science (including taxonomy) ... the good rises, the bad falls - at digital speed.

As you know the Bacteriological Code already allows electronic publications, provided they conform to the tradition followed in print. This would include the principle of peer review (also raised in the Nature news article) and creating a permanent record that it not altered. In essence archiving of electronic publications is something that serious publishers have already paid attention to - it is part of their business plan. Of course the IJSEM, the central record of [registered] prokaryote names is published in both print and electronic form.
