[Taxacom] Summer Internships Available at The New York Botanical Garden Herbarium

The New York Botanical Garden is offering two paid internships in the Herbarium to college undergraduate students with an interest in biodiversity science or natural history collections. The internships begin 1 June 2010 and continue for six to eight weeks. Each intern will work 35 hours per week. The stipend for the internship is $15 per hour. Housing is not provided.
Interns will participate in various aspects of the Global Plants Initiative, a project to digitize herbarium specimens at The New York Botanical Garden. They will be trained to capture digital images of specimens, and to help with image quality control and file management.
Each year, the Botanical Garden places 25-30 post-graduate, undergraduate, and high school interns in its diverse programs in plant science. The summer internship program includes weekly enrichment activities and skills workshops that aid in students' professional development and provide full exposure to the research activities in plant science at the Garden.
To apply for an internship, interested applicants should prepare a letter describing their interest in the position and a resume. Applicants should request letters of support from one of their professors. All applications and letters should be sent electronically to:
