[Taxacom] BP and biodiversity

Dear All,
Like some U.S. Senators, I am outraged that BP would announce
plans to pay out another $10 billion dollars in dividends this year (as
they did last year) at a time that they should actually be thinking
about their liabilities to recompense the far less fortunate victims of
their greed. In view of recent events, such a move would be the highest
form of irresponsibility and arrogance, not to mention a likely backlash
by consumers of their products. If they are really sorry for
their poor safety record and the disaster that they have now unleased in
the Gulf, they should be saving a major part of that $10 billion to
cleanup, recompense those whose livelihoods have been devastated, AND
most of all, money to remediate the damage to the biodiversity of the
affected areas of the Gulf. If they instead spend their money on large
dividends and huge batteries of expensive lawyers to fight and delay
what should be payed to the victims, they probably deserved to suffer
the consequences of the biggest consumer backlash in history. We will
judge them by their deeds, not their words!!!!
