[Taxacom] Why Australians are more real than Americans: implications for taxonomy!

What sort of reply is that?
Question: Do you see the job of the taxonomist as describing both the different morphologies out there in the world and the gaps between them? Or do you think that the "gaps" are purely imposed, like the political boundaries carving up the Americas into countries? Are species more like Australia, or more like U.S.A.? I say they are more like Australia, because there are "real gaps" out there to be described, AT LEAST in the present snap-shot...
failure to communicate = failure to answer above question! :)
