It looks to me that it is not rare to have names of species
attributed to a number of authors, with one or more of the authors
being 'carried'. The really famous example that comes to mind are
the names once ascribed to H.B.K. with Kunth now accepted as the
real author.
I would not be at all surprised if there are cases of names of
species attributed to a single author who did not do any actual
taxonomic work.
