This nice crab spider (Thomisidae: Thomisinae: Misumenini) was
originally described as "Misumenops" callinurus Mello-Leitao, 1929
according to female only. In the recent revision by Lehtinen&Marusik
(2008) it was finally proved that this species does not belong
to the real Misumenops, consisting of six species only (all
Neotropical), while the correct generic assignation can only be done,
when male specimens will be available. A taxonomic revision of the still
unrevised Neotropical Misumenini is in progress now and it is highly
probable that this obviously widespread species belongs to an unnamed
and undescribed new genus.
