There were a few things. I was forwarded a link to a webcast originating from Virginia Tech that had a heavy arts emphasis. http://www.sova.vt.edu/singingdarwinlive.html
And for all of us stateside privileged enough to have the company of creationists, a bright star in the creationist movement named Ray Comfort and his minions distributed copies of The Origin on university campuses, complete with a specially written introduction that informs us of the evils of all things Darwin.

Subject: [Taxacom] Origin of Species' 150th anniversary
Dear all
I was surprised and saddened that the 150th anniversary of the
publication of Darwin's Origin of Species last week, Nov. 24, passed
without much notice in the media, including here. I am sure there were
some news, blogs, etc, and since I've been so busy lately that I know I
missed some news, but I remember seeing a lot more earlier this year, in
February, on the occasion of Darwin's 200th birthday. Perhaps people
thought they had already celebrated enough back in February, and did not
need to pay respects to this landmark work?
Congratulations, C.D.!
Fabio
