Tony

I also confirm the Delonix regia identification. As a co-author of a
revision of the Malagasy spp of the genus [Du Puy et al. 1995. Kew Bull.
50(3): 445-475], I can add that the 9 other spp in Madagascar also have
large woody pods, but none are as long as those of D. regia and the seeds of
the others and the corresponding depressions in the pod valve (visible in
the photo) are shorter and fatter. In addition to the spp from Madagascar,
D. baccal (E Africa) and D. elata (E Africa to India) also have smaller
pods, which are much less woody, and have flatter, smaller seeds. So the
other spp of the genus can be ruled out.

Dear Taxacomers
I have a mystery pod that has stumped me - no history, no determination, no
