Speaking of GenBank, taxonomists need to be aware that you need to make 
sure your article publication information is up to date if you have 
sequence data in the database.  Because journals typically (and ought 
to) want you to include accession numbers for DNA sequences in the 
publication, things are entered into GenBank as "unpublished".  If you 
publish in a medically important or prominent molecular systematics 
journal, GenBank is likely to spot the publication and update it.  If 
you publish in something else, even if it's a major journal for your 
taxon, GenBank rarely notices, leaving the entry as "unpublished".  Any 
time you see "unpublished" in GenBank, that means "search databases or 
Google or whatever else to see if it is published."
