I've come across fresh support for Lost Causes in biology. Unusual and
challenging ideas, such as my own, as well as wild theories, such as
those of others, are often presented on Taxacom to entertain us.
Take heart! Here is a paper from the dawn of biological time (1981)
that wraps several theories in a new, quite modern, perspective. There
is a lot of blather, too, but blather delightfully well-written.
