You know what they say: "If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 
'em with ... er, 'bovine waste product' ..."

I suppose the problem is that some disciplines that really require a higher 
intellect to master (e.g., higher mathematics) require highly specialized 
language to express.  Therefore, the assumption is that if a thing 
represents something intelligent, it must be expressed in high-falutin' words.
