[Taxacom] emergency petition on Lesser Prairie Chicken

Dear All,
       Recent studies on the conservation status of the Lesser Prairie
Chicken (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus) have resulted in the filing of an
emergency petition to list it as a threatened species on the Kansas
Threatened and Endangered List.  The building of wind farms in its
remaining habitat has been found to be particularly problematic, as the
prairie chickens avoid areas where wind farms are built.  Anyone
