Dear All,
     In that same volume, is another great article:  D.L. Hull, 1979.
The Limits of Cladism.  Syst. Zool., 28:416-440.  On page 437, he
lamented that "no methods have been set out thus far which permit the
inclusion of boths sorts of information [genealogy and divergence] in a
single classification in such a way that both are retrievable."  He had
no way of knowing that I had already begun using such methods to do just
that, with my {{exgroup}} markers and an alphanumeric coding system.
