First Workshop Announcement

Biodiversity Informatics:
challenges in modelling and managing biodiversity knowledge
10th July, 2008
Cardiff University (Wales, UK)
In association with the 25th British National Conference on Databases
(BNCOD) we are planning to hold a Biodiversity Informatics workshop
immediately after the main BNCOD conference, which runs from 7th to
9th July 2008.
Scope
=====
Papers on all aspects of modelling and managing biodiversity
knowledge are invited. Possible topics include:
- Interoperation of biodiversity systems
- Biodiversity data quality
- Supporting the taxonomic process
- Visualisation and manipulation of biodiversity data
- Modelling biodiversity concepts
This list is not intended to be exhaustive or to exclude
papers that do not fall into one or more of the above
categories.

Original papers of up to 8 pages in Springer LNCS format are invited.
Submissions should be e-mailed as PDF documents to:

Style files and instructions for producing your paper in Springer
LNCS format may be obtained by visiting the following URL:

and following the link labelled "Information for LNCS Authors and
Volume Editors".
Publication
===========
There is the opportunity for up to two of the best papers to be
published in the BNCOD conference proceedings (Springer-Verlag
Lecture Notes in Computer Science); it is planned to make the
remainder available to attendees on CD-ROM.
Presentation
============
At least one author of each accepted paper will be expected to
attend the workshop and to give a presentation (provisionally
20 minutes + 10 minutes questions).
Demonstrations
==============
If you would like to give a demonstration at this workshop
(not necessarily linked to a submitted paper), please e-mail
Andrew Jones to discuss this further.

Submission deadline: 28th March 2008
Notification of acceptance/rejection: 11th April 2008
Final "camera-ready" copy deadline: 25th April 2008
