     Graduate Study in Floristics, Rocky Mountain Herbarium

The Rocky Mountain Herbarium seeks students interested in pursuing a
M.S. degree in broad-scale floristics.  The successful applicants are
expected to be highly motivated individuals capable of working with
limited supervision (following a period of training).  The RM has
completed 54 inventories (>570,000 numbered collections) in Arizona,
Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, South
Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming over the past 31 years with the
goal of producing a critical flora of the Rocky Mountain region.  The
RM/RMS/USFS contain ~900,000 accessions, a backlog >350,000 databased
collections; the database is populated by ~700,000 specimen records.  

Recent/current floristic inventories include: Carson NF, Santa Fe NF,
NM; e. Wind River Range, Grand Teton NP, Buffalo Gap/Oglala NG, SD/NE,
Cimarron/Comanche NG, KS/CO, Beartooth Mtns., MT/WY, Pryor Mtns., MT,
Lewis and Clark NF, MT; new projects include: Custer NF, Ashton and
Sioux districts, MT/SD.
