The point of course is that I am not sure of anything when it comes to
electronics. I do have Wordstar-files on 5.25 floppies that I will likely
never be able to access any more, although it may be no loss.

Indeed, I rarely have trouble with pdf files, but it is not unknown, and
Acrobat keeps updating its reader, so it cannot be precluded that someday it
will update into complete or partial unreadability.

The Missouri Botanical Garden has a great service of presenting historical
botany books online, but it would be a lot more handy if I ever could figure
out a way to get more than the top one third of each reproduced page on my
screen. I can print out the whole page, but only when my computer is in a
mood to recognize the printer.

And the pace of the changes (with its risks of incompatibility) keeps 
increasing.
