The Botany Department at the Natural History Museum, London currently has the following vacancies
Flowering Plant Database and Digitisation Technician x 3
Fern & Algal Database and Digitisation Technician
£23,000 plus benefits

The Department of Botany is seeking 3 research assistants for an initial 1 year fixed term post (with possible extension to 18 months). You will be required to database and digitise all its Asian flowering plant type specimens as part of an internationally collaborative project. In addition, the Museum is also seeking a research assistant for an initial 1 year fixed term post (with possible extension to 18 months) to database and digitise all its Latin American fern & algal type specimens as part of the same project
You will have a degree or equivalent experience in biological sciences or a related discipline, and experience of working with biological collections and appropriate database and digitisation software. Other desirable qualities include specific experience of working with flowering plant or fern/algal collections as appropriate, in a taxonomic environment, a good knowledge of geography, and an understanding of plant nomenclature and typification.
To be successful you will have the ability to work in a focused manner with close attention to detail, be responsible and committed, and have a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
