MAJOR DUTIES:
This position is located with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS),
Office of the Biological Resources Discipline (BRD), Associate Chief
Biologist for Information, Biological Informatics Office, located in
Reston, VA. Some of the major duties are:
The incumbent serves as the Director of the Integrated Taxonomic
Information System Program and provides national and international-
level leadership and technical direction for the USGS and its
partner agencies and organizations in the planning and
administration of the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS).
The incumbent provide overall direction and leadership for planning
development and operation of the ITIS program; coordinates with It's
partner organizations in developing short-term and strategic plans
for ITIS development, in setting priorities for ITIS enhancement and
data development and in identifying available funding and staffing
resources and resource needs.
Leads efforts to identify, negotiate with an formalize agreements
with prospective ITIS partner organization, including Federal an
State government agencies, scientific and professional societies,
non-government organizations and international organizations.
