Richard M. Bohart, entomologist extraordinaire, died peacefully on
February 1, 2007 at the age of 93. His life was full of productive work
in insect systematics, and he was a pillar among workers in Hymenoptera.
During his last year he received the Distinguished Research Medal from
the International Society of Hymenopterists, one of three lifetime
achievement awards ever presented by the Society. The Bohart Museum of
Entomology at the University of California, Davis carries his name in
honor of all the work he did in insect collections. Dick Bohart had a
full year in 2006. We went to Chile and stayed in the mountains near
Chillan, visited Adelaide Bohart in Logan, Utah for her 92nd birthday,
and spent a week in Hawaii in August. Many friends, relatives and
colleagues visited us in our home in Hercules.

His path, his life, his generosity, and excellence will never be forgotten.

Elizabeth Arias Bohart
