Perhaps one of the things that we should address when we review
proposals that should involve voucher specimens is whether or not it is
stated whether the cost of their prrparation and entry into any
pertinent databases is included in the budget. That at least might
reduce a tendency to make such costs a slashable item. For this to work,
institutions have to have a policy and a charge.  No, my suggestion does
not address all Kevin's questions. Actually, it does not address any of
them directly. I find myself envying him that people in his part of the
world consider making vouchers important. I find that molecular
scientists are now among the best - because journal editors ask about
vouchers.
