Announcing a Special Symposium! New Applications of Bayesian
Inference in Phylogenetic Biology
We would like to invite all interested parties to attend the
forthcoming ‘Bayesian Invasion’ symposium. The event features
presentations by leading experts in Bayesian phylogenetic research
that highlight exciting new developments in Bayesian phylogeny
estimation and phylogeny-based inference methods.
Speakers/subjects include:
Michael Donoghue (Yale University)
Opening remarks
Joseph Chang (Yale University)
Some Principles of Bayesian Inference
John Huelsenbeck (UC, Berkeley)
Applications of the Dirichlet Process in Phylogenetic
Biology
Paul Lewis & Daniel Fan (University of Connecticut, Storrs)
Model Selection for Bayesian Phylogenetics: A Minimum
Posterior Predictive Loss Approach
Bruce Rannala (UC, Davis)
Summarizing Information from Posterior Distributions of
Phylogenetic Trees
Fredrik Ronquist (Florida State University)
Dating Phylogenies with Incompletely Preserved Fossils:
A Bayesian Approach
The symposium will be held on the Yale campus between 10AM–6:00PM
on Saturday October 28, 2006, in the main auditorium of Linsly-
Chittenden Hall (room 102), located at 63 High Street in New Haven.
All are welcome and registration is free. Because space is
limited, early registration is strongly encouraged. For more
information and online registration, please visit the symposium web
site: http://www.phylodiversity.net/bmoore/symposium/symposium.html.
