Biodiversity Informatics 

Closing Date: November 20, 2006

The Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem seeks a Biodiversity Informatics who will be responsible for developing taxonomic databases and a web editor based on the Berlin Model (http://www.bgbm.org/biodivinf/docs/bgbm-model/). The successful applicant will be responsible for providing support for scientific users at the BGBM and other international institutions as well as importing data into a complex taxonomic database structure.

Requirements: a degree in Informatics/Biology or related fields. 

Desirable: The successful applicant will have a good working knowledge of database development and experience in higher level programming. The applicant should have experience in developing data base-driven web applications, modelling of complex information domains as well as having participated in interdisciplinary IT projects. An interest in taxonomy, systematics and biodiversity computer science as well as good English communication skills is also desired.

Salary: German Federal pay scale Vgr. IIa/Ib BAT (i.d.F.d. Anw.-TV FUB)
