[Taxacom] Update: Plants, people & evolution meeting, 4 Aug 06

We now have titles for the main presentations at this meeting in 
honour of Barbara Pickersgill:

*Barrett	The evolution of sexual diversity in Daffodils (Narcissus)
*Casas	Evolutionary ecology of columnar cacti under domestication 
in Mesoamerica
*Hughes   Backyard sympatry, spontaneous hybridisation and crop 
domestication in pre-Columbian Mexico – insights from Leucaena 
(Leguminosae)
*Nesbitt	  Wheat domestication: a critical re-evaluation of its 
archaeology and genetics
*Smith   Lagenaria siceraria: Genetic and archaeological evidence 
for the early history of domesticated bottle gourd.
*Vaughan   Rice, people & evolution: From prehistory to the 
biotechnology era
*Waines   Domestication and Crop Physiology: Roots of a Green 
Revolution [wheat]
*Wendel   Genes, jeans, and genomes: plant exploration and the 
wonders of cotton	
*Zohary	The impact of self-pollination on early crop 
domestication in the Near East

There will also be posters on wheat/Panicum ancient DNA, etc.

It's not too late to book a place, but it would be helpful if anyone 
thinking about coming books soon, as this will help us decide 
which meeting room to use. The meeting is at the Linnean Society, 
Central London, Friday 4 August 2006. The timetable will allow
