[Taxacom] Parsimony, Neighbor Joining, and Bayesian Analysis

I'm probably missing something, but ...

I know that Parsimony as a "simulation/analysis" technique isn't
perfect, and that Bayesian is supposed to be a big improvement.  Why
then do you base your model selection for Bayesian Analysis on how well
ones data fit a Neigbor Joining tree?
