The MSc below includes a stream specifically on Biodiversity Informatics
including Global Species Databases, GIS, Bioclimatic Niche modelling,
Phylogenetics and other areas of Biodiversity that use computer based
informatics. Computer competence is a must!

MSc in Applied Informatics
Full time: 12 months
The Informatics Research Centre is offering up to six EPSRC CTA studentships
for its MSc programme in Applied Informatics. The programme addresses an
increasing demand from academia and industry for professionals with a
well-balanced portfolio of knowledge and skills in science and management,
as typified by the degrees of Professional Science Masters (PSM) found in
America and elsewhere. Students will prepare for technical and management
roles in the fields of Business and Management, Biodiversity, Construction
Management, Computing and Information Technology. This programme benefits
from various areas of excellence within the University and offers four
specialisations:
* Business Informatics
* Biodiversity Informatics
* Construction Informatics
* Computation Informatics
This is suitable to those who wish to pursue further careers which require
knowledge and expertise both in application domains as well as IT and
Informatics.
Funding
Up to six EPSRC CTA-funded studentships are available for the best UK and EU
students. Home fees and a stipend of £7,000 are available to full-time home
students and EU nationals who have spent the previous 3 years in the UK
undertaking undergraduate study. Partial fee bursaries of £2000 may also be
available for suitably qualified overseas applicants.
Entry requirements
Entrants to this programme are normally required to have obtained at least a
2.1 Honours Bachelors Degree in related fields; or equivalent experience
subject to the Universitys APEL rules.
