Barry,

Thanks for reminding me - it happens in paleontology all the time: a single
tooth or a single leaf!  And, if we do adopt something like a bar-code
approach to diagnosing taxa, perhaps a single bit of preserved tissue,
sufficient for extracting adequate DNA, could be designated the holotype.
