If I understand the evolutionary argument here, Ken is saying that those
to had one toe can do the job of two fused toes and evolution would
eliminate the short one that would have to imply that not only did one
toe do the job of two, it somehow did so 'better' in a way that resulted
in greater reproductive output so as to eliminate the lineages with two
toes?
