Homo sapiens lectotype

Dear All,
It seems to me that Bakker's designation of a type (assuming it was actually published) is going to be invalid either way. The purported Cope skull cannot be a lectotype (as was noted), and it also cannot be a neotype according to the Code because neotypes CANNOT be designated for mere housekeeping purposes. There must be a clear nomenclatural need to designate a neotype, and there is clearly no such need for Homo sapiens.
However, ignoring Bakker's silly suggestion (published or not), I am still interested in whether Linnaeus himself could be regarded as the holotype. I'm not sure that question has been properly discussed since the discussions always get side-tracked on the irrelevant Bakker thing.
