Excellent question. Or even ... does the paper exist?
On the matter of Linnaeus, and Gary Rosenberg ruling that gentleman out as a
H. sapiens type because Article 72.4.1 of the Code excludes from the type
series of a nominal species-group taxon specimens referred to as distinct
variants. I now ask - Anybody know if that article was in the edition (ed 1?)
of the code at the time of Stearns?
Finally, it was Stearn's dry little joke to suggest Linnaeus as a type. Not to
be taken seriously. OK?
But I guess this topic is off and running again for another round.
