Department of Entomology: Systems & Data Manager
The Department of Entomology of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington invites applications for the position of Systems & Data Manager.
The Department of Entomology holds one of the World’s largest and most important insect collections. Working as part of a small team, you will play a crucial role in the implementation of KE EMu Collections Management software. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transfer of data from the existing software, training staff, maintaining the system and registry, updating the department’s Internet and Intranet pages, and providing general advice and on-going support in the use of KE EMu and other databases used in the Department.
To be successful you must have a BSc in life sciences and a postgraduate qualification in IT (or equivalent experience). You will have experience managing relational databases, developing web database applications, training others in IT applications, and in zoological taxonomy. Ideally you will also have knowledge and experience using programming languages, data modelling, web content management systems, XML, crystal reports, collections management systems, Paradox for DOS, MS Access, and digital image management. Expertise working with and developing object-relation databases and managing registry systems is desirable.
